Stop Politicians From Making Delaware a "Sanctuary State"

This not only undermines the rule of law, but also endangers tax-paying citizens by attracting to our communities individuals of unknown identities and backgrounds who have entered our country illegally.

A "Sanctuary State" has adopted laws, policies, or practices limiting the cooperation of State and local law enforcement with federal immigration enforcement efforts, including prohibiting the detention of individuals in custody longer than their scheduled release date based solely on a request (detainer) from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

While it may be true that many illegal immigrants are honest, hard‑working people that are simply seeking a better life, the fact remains that there is an undeniable link between illegal immigration and crime.

Moreover, the argument that illegal immigrants contribute more in taxes than they take from government services simply doesn't pass the smell test, according to The House Budget Committee. The taxes we are forced to pay should be for things that benefit US - not for aiding and abetting foreigners who break our laws.

Politicians should not be allowed to purchase political support at the expense of our safety and well-being. Their job is to represent US and OUR INTERESTS; not those of trespassers who have no right to be here. As your State Senator, I will stand firmly opposed to any attempts to make Delaware a "Sanctuary State" on any level. I will also ardently support all efforts to direct state and local law enforcement to fully cooperate with and show every courtesy to federal law enforcement at all times.

By all means, We should warmly welcome newcomers to our country, provided they come in through the front door with OUR permission - and NOT by breaking and entering through an open window. Our citizenship means something; we're not here to simply be livestock on a tax farm that exists to serve wealthy elites and their stooge politicians. We the people are the owners of this place, and it should be up to us who may or may not join our national family.
