Make Sure You Qualify

✓

Delaware absentee voting is for registered voters who cannot go to their assigned polling place on Election Day for a reason allowed by Delaware law.

Examples include being sick or physically disabled, being away from your district, certain work or public-service duties, being a student, providing constant care for someone who is ill or disabled, or certain religious reasons.

Not sure whether you qualify? Call your county Department of Elections office. The phone numbers are below.

Request Your Ballot

💻

The easiest way is online. Go to Delaware's official Voter Portal, look up your voter record, and choose the option to request an absentee ballot.

GO TO DELAWARE VOTER PORTAL

You can also submit a paper application or contact your county Department of Elections office.

DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. For the November 3, 2026 General Election, October 30 is the last day the Department may mail absentee ballots. The Department's deadline to issue absentee ballots is noon on November 2.

Vote Your Ballot

When your ballot arrives, open it and read the instructions that came with it.

Mark your choices carefully, then review your ballot before putting it into the ballot envelope.

4

Sign and Seal the Envelope

✍️

Put your voted ballot in the BALLOT ENVELOPE provided by the Department of Elections.

VERY IMPORTANT: Check the information on the envelope, SIGN AND DATE THE OATH, and seal the envelope.
5

Return Your Ballot

✉️

You may return your completed absentee ballot by mail or hand-deliver it to the Department of Elections office for the county where you live.

DO NOT take your absentee ballot to an Early Voting site or your Election Day polling place.

If you are mailing it, mail it early. The U.S. Postal Service recommends mailing absentee ballots back at least 7 days before the election to help ensure timely delivery.

YOUR BALLOT MUST ARRIVE BY
8:00 PM • NOVEMBER 3, 2026

It must be received by your county Department of Elections office by the deadline. A late ballot will not be counted.
